CSI Welding Students Breath Sigh Of Relief

The students in the welding classes at the College of Southern Idaho have been concerned for the past two weeks if they would actually be able to get their certification upon graduation.  The two certified welding instructors at CSI, Kent Parish and Juan Martinez,  have been on paid administrative leave since early this month.

Idahoans Sentenced On Drug Charges

(AP)  A pair of methamphetamine dealers from southwestern Idaho were sentenced to long stints in federal prison, with three additional members of their drug ring due to get their punishments later this year. Daniel Pena of Caldwell was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court to 13 years in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine - and
discharge of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Rupert Man Gets Prison Time For Death Of Infant

A Rupert man will be spending some time in prison after the death of his three month old baby girl.  25 year old Jamie Lopez was sentenced yesterday to 3 ½ years for felony injury to a child.  His daughter, Nivea Lopez, died in December of 2008 from injuries including skull fractures and healed rib fractures.

Jerome Man Sentenced For Selling Drugs

A man in this country illegally will spend the next eight years of his life in a U.S. federal prison for selling drugs and other charges.  37 year old Julio Cardelas-Martinez was arrested along with several others last February in Jerome after police raided a house near the Jerome High School.
