ELY, Nev. (AP) — A 15-year-old girl was killed and another woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 93 near Ely. The Elko Daily Free Press reports  that an 18-year-old woman, of Las Vegas, was driving a 2009 Mercury north Monday with the 15-year-old girl, from Henderson. Nevada Highway Patrol troopers say the driver crossed the center line and traveled off the left roadway edge.

She overcorrected the vehicle back onto the highway where it traveled across both lanes. When the car drifted into the right shoulder, the driver overcorrected, causing the Mercury to spin and overturn. Nevada Highway Patrol says the 15-year-old was ejected from the front passenger seat. She died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The driver sustained minor injuries.
