BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A teen has filed a tort claim against the Idaho Department of Juvenile Correction because he says he sustained a concussion and a badly broken collarbone when a department employee "body slammed" him to the ground.

The tort claim was filed with the Idaho Secretary of State earlier this week. Idaho Department of Correction spokesman Jeff Ray said the department cannot comment on matters involving litigation.

The IDJC teacher named in the lawsuit, Jerod Ward, did not immediately return a phone message requesting comment. In the claim, the 15-year-old youth says the teacher tackled him after the two got into an argument about the placement of a desk.
