Right after word got out about the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ reboot, fans have been in a tizzy. Not in a good way, of course, because Michael Bay is involved, which is always the first sign of trouble.

And from what we can gather from the new trailer, the rumors are true about the origin of the Turtles being different this time. Apparently main villain Shredder creates them because “crime, violence and fear have run rampant” and “heroes are not born, they’re created.” Not to mention these Turtles are human-size and indeed very “large,” as one report put it.

While we’re not sure how much of Bay’s stamp will be on ‘Turtles,’ his name is featured prominently in the credits, and obviously he’s forgiven Megan Fox for comparing him to Hitler, because she’s starring as Turtle pal April O’Neil. In the trailer, we see her trying to take pictures of the Turtles from a distance with her iPhone, and she also faints the first time she comes face to face with one. (It’s also clear they still have the goofy voices as well.)

While we’re certain online trolls are going to whine and complain endlessly about the changes that have been made to the Turtles, what little action we see looks OK. And let’s face it, this is ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ here, not ‘War and Peace.’

For the most part, kids at least should get a kick out of the movie, which is clearly whom this is geared toward. But Bay is well aware if he screws this up, he’s got net hell to pay. And then the trolls will show no mercy whatsoever.
