TF City Council Completes Chobani Paperwork
Although the pomp and circumstance of the Chobani Greek Yogurt manufacturing plant moving to Twin Falls was celebrated earlier this month, the Twin Falls City Council still needed to put its stamp of approval on a couple of items before it could happen. The Times News reports that occurred yesterday during the regular session of the council. The Council approved 6 to nothing, with one councilman absent, a resolution that would allow the Twin Falls Urban Renewal Agency to purchase the 190 acre site east of Twin Falls where the plant will be built. In turn, the URA will sell the property to Agro Farma, the parent company of Chobani. It was a last step to make the entire deal possible. There was no debate during the meeting because the council had already discussed the issue at length before last night’s meeting, making the vote last night merely a formality. The land deal should be completed next week and construction will begin on the plant before the end of the year.
