(KLIX)-The City of Twin Falls now has land for a dedicated dog park. But now, they lack the funding to start developing the site. Parks and Recreation Director Dennis Bowyer says there isn’t any money in this year’s budget  or the next for the park. He says it would take roughly $35,000 to $40,000 to get the park started. Bowyer had been optimistic to get something going by this fall. Instead they may plant grass to have it ready by next spring. They will also have to work out parking for the park. Right now there isn’t any set aside at the Shoupe Ave location. Bowyer says a local canine club is willing to help develop the park. Dog lover Marcia Lanting has been a long advocate for the dog park and has offered $10,000 to support it. She also asked the parks commission to name the park in honor of her brother. The request to name the park "Baxter Park in memory of Dale Drown" will go before city council.
