Even though the recession is still very much a reality many Magic Valley families won’t be going without a Thanksgiving meal this year, thanks to several service organizations.

The Salvation Army on Fourth Ave. North in Twin Falls has been cooking since earlier this week to prepare for up to 150 people.  That meal will take place today from noon until 2.  And starting at 6 o’clock tonight the  River Christian Fellowship Church will also be serving meals.  Tomorrow the Twin Falls Community Church of the Brethren on Filer Ave. West iN Twin Falls will serve meals from 11 until 2 and St. Jerome Catholic Church in Jerome will begin serving meals at 5:30 this afternoon.

An annual event in Twin Falls, Christmas In The Night Time Sky will light up the heavens Friday night with the fireworks display at Kimberly Nurseries on East Addison Ave. in Twin Falls.  Bring a new unwrapped toy for a child 16 or under for each person and get a chili and baked potato meal. The toys will be distributed to needy children in the Magic Valley through KMVT’s Christmas For Kids program.  That event gets underway at 5:30 Friday and the fireworks will begin at 7:30.
