BOISE, Idaho (KLIX) – His might not be the most handsome face the rising opera star has seen, but he has a voice that melts her heart. She calls him her “Angel of Music.”

Sound familiar?

You can see Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rendition of the classic novel “The Phantom of the Opera” from now until June 25 at the Morrison Center in Boise. It’s part of the Fred Meyer’s “Broadway in Boise” series in which Broadway plays are brought to a local audience.

The play depicts a young opera singer who catches the eye of a phantom figure who lives in the dark recesses of the Paris Opera House. His ironic love for young Christine Daae unleashes a series of “ghostly” occurrences in the famed opera center that culminates in the phantom’s underground labyrinth.

There's more, of course, but it's best served fresh on the stage – or in the classic novel.

The play is based on French journalist-turned-novelist Gaston Leroux ‘s book by the same title. Webber, who adjusted the story to fit a stage appeal, first shared his play in 1986 in London and two years later on Broadway. With more than 12,000 shows to date, it is hailed as the longest running musical on Broadway.

As of Wednesday, tickets for the Idaho performance were still available. To buy yours, or for more information, visit this webpage.
