Nearly 2000 people turned out at events around the state on Saturday to ask lawmakers to amend Idaho's human rights law. The events were organized by the "Add the words, Idaho" campaign. the campaign is asking lawmakers to add the words sexual orientation and gender identity to the act.

About 50 people attended a rally in Twin Falls. Volunteers say in Idaho a person who is gay or transgender could still be fired or face other discrimination based  solely on their sexual identity.

Add the Words, Idaho volunteer Cody Hafer says he doesn't think that's right.

Organizers say the bill that would amend the human rights act will be given a print hearing in the legislature on February 8th. The chair of the state affairs committee says he will give the bill a public hearing this year if directed to do so by senate leadership.
