Tornado Touched Down in Southern Idaho

Clint Spencer

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say a small tornado in a rural area of eastern Idaho caused no damage or injuries.

The National Weather Service says the twister touched down at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday about 10 miles northwest of American Falls and remained on the ground about 20 minutes.

The agency classified the tornado as packing winds up to 73 mph. The tornado traveled several miles on the ground.

The Power County Sheriff’s Department says it received numerous reports about the tornado that dissipated near the Snake River.

Officials say the twister formed as several thunderstorms moved through the area.
