BURLEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) An early morning accident has claimed the life of a 28 year old Tetonia man in Cassia County.

Sheriff Jay Heward said that they were called to mile post 259 on Interstate 84 Tuesday morning around 3:30 a.m. between the Interstate 84/86 and the Utah state line in Cassia County. The driver of a 1997 Ford pickup had been ejected. Deputies from Cassia County, LifeRun and Malta Ambulance all responded.

Sheriff Heward said the vehicle ran off the road and had overturned after traveling down an embankment. The driver Seth C. Wood, 28, was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. What authorities say caused the accident was a wheel and tire that had come off of a trailer.

Sheriff Heward said that a vehicle pulling the trailer noticed sparks as he was traveling down the freeway. Not wanting to stop on the freeway, the driver pulled into the nearby Juniper rest area where he discovered that a rim and tire had come off. The tire was struck by a pickup driven Wood, 28. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
