RUPERT, Idaho (AP) — A March 26 trial date has been set for a 36-year-old man accused of shooting another farmworker in the leg in a south-central Idaho potato field.

The Times-News reports Rogelio Munoz Chavez of Paul is charged with felony aggravated battery over the Oct. 8 shooting following an argument with co-worker Encornacion Duarte-Jabalera.

Duarte-Jabalera testified the two men argued over a dead radio and a stuck vehicle. The 31-year-old man said Chavez pushed him, and that he punched Chavez. Duarte-Jabalera said later he got down from the tractor he was driving when Chavez drove up in his vehicle, and Chavez shot him. Chavez told police he pointed the gun at his feet hoping to avoid a fight.
