SHOSHONE, Idaho (KLIX)- A truck driver involved in a head-on crash last months has died in a Salt Lake City hospital.

According to Idaho State Police Ronald K. Schoolcroft, 71, of Richfield, succumbed to his injuries on Monday, July 6, 2015, at the University of Utah Burn Center. Schoolcroft had been driving a 2008 Freightliner truck pulling an empty trailer on June 18th when he was hit head on by a Toyota pickup being driven by Royce D. Main, 23, of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Police say Main was trying to pass another vehicle heading north just south of Shoshone. When the two vehicles collided the fuel tank on the truck ruptured and burst into flames. It then detached from the truck and ended up in a near by field that ignited a small fire.

Main had been wearing his seat belt and was taken to Portneuf Regional Medical Center in Pocatello.
