TWIN FALLS, Id ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) Breaking news tonight out of Twin Falls City Hall, after a year of waiting, the city has a new police chief.

Current Nampa Police Chief Craig Kingsbury was approved by the city council this evening. After 24 years with the Nampa Police Department, Kingsbury will officially join the TFPD on Monday January 4th. Kingsbury says he is excited to be a part of the Twin Falls community, both inside and outside of the police department.

"I know that the City of Twin Falls has worked hard to find the right person and I just hope I can live up to the expectations and I feel like I'm coming into an organization with a great team and I'm excited to do that,” said Kingsbury.

Kingsbury also says his first item of business in Twin Falls will be to get to know the men and women of the police department personally and he is excited to relocate to Twin Falls.
