Twin Falls Man Charged After Pawning Stolen CSI Property

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) – A Twin Falls man was charged with grand theft after allegedly stealing and pawning items from the College of Southern Idaho automotive program.

James L. Kassner, 24 of Twin Falls, was in court on Monday following charges of felony grand theft by disposing of stolen property filed on March 9, from alleged thefts between Oct. 16 and Dec. 11. Kassner’s preliminary hearing is set for April 15, bond is set at $25,000.

A pawn shop employee notified officials with the College of Southern Idaho automotive program in mid-December that some multi-meters belonging to CSI had been pawned. Where the CSI engraving would have been had been was damaged or destroyed. As many as 10 missing multi-meters sparked the inquiry into what else might have been stolen from the program, according to court documents.

Through the course of the investigation, Twin Falls police found other items belonging to the CSI automotive program that had allegedly been pawned at different pawn stores across the Magic Valley.

These items included a battery stabilizer and charger, an electronic torque wrench, a car charger and car scanner. The value of the items allegedly stolen from the CSI program was about $9,500.
