TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A south-central Idaho man police say tried to smother his girlfriend's 3-year-old son has been charged with felony injury to a child. The Times-News reports that 27-year-old James R. Bea III of Twin Falls was charged Tuesday in 5th District Court. Police say they responded to an apartment at 2 a.m. Saturday and spoke to a woman who reported that Bea had both hands over the boy's face and that she pushed Bea away. Police say an examination by a doctor found bruising on the boy's head, arms, rib cage and buttocks, and that bruising on the boy's face is consistent with someone putting a hand over his mouth. Police say Bea reported waking up to the boy having a nightmare and tried to comfort him.
