MOSCOW, ID - Moscow Police arrested a man Sunday for the alleged rape of a University of Idaho student on the Moscow campus. The suspect is 21-year-old Jesse Vierstra of Twin Falls and he is a former U of I student. He and the alleged victim attended a party on the 700 block of Nez Perce Drive on Saturday night. According to Moscow Chief of Police David Duke  the two agreed to leave the party together for a walk. The two knew each other from working at a Twin Falls restaurant. Police said that when the two went outside, they started kissing and once they were alone, Vierstra forced the victim to the ground and sexually assaulted her behind the Sigma Chi Fraternity house. The victim told her family about the incident, and they reported it to the police around 2 a.m. Sunday. After interviewing the victim and other involved parties, police contacted Vierstra and asked him to come to the station. According to police, he invoked his rights during an interview with officers and was arrested on one account of rape and booked into the Latah County Jail. His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday.
