Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) Long time director of the Twin Falls Parks and Recreation Department officially said goodbye to his staff Wednesday afternoon, as the city threw him a final going away party.

Dennis Bowyer served in the Parks and Recreation Department for the last 30 years. In his time with the department, Bowyer was a crucial part in transforming the parks system from random parks into the system we see now. We caught up with Bowyer at the party and asked what he will miss most about working for the City of Twin Falls

"I think my work family... my friends that I've made here while working for the city. Day to day people I work with, and also working with the community quite a bit too, I've made a lot of great friends and my job allowed me to make a lot of good friends with the community... so I'm going to miss that. I will still will be around the community, I'll be involved with my optimist club and who knows what else ill be involved with. Ill really miss my work family," said Dennis Bowyer, Retiring Parks and Recreation Director.

Bowyer's last day on the job will be this Friday and will be replaced by new Director Wendy Davis. Bowyer says his crowning achievement from his time in Parks and Rec has to be the development of the Canyon Rim Trail.

The City of Twin Falls has also shown its appreciation for Bowyer's work. The city recently named the newest pocket–park, located next to the Glanbia corporate office, in his honor.
