The Times News is reporting today that possible efforts to find new locations for two thrift stores in downtown Twin Falls aren’t making much headway.  Operators of both the Idaho Youth Ranch and the Salvation Army have been considering the possibility of relocating so as not to be a deterrent to the development of the historic downtown area.  But officials from the Idaho Youth Ranch say there are no other locations that would serve them like their current location on Main Street.  The Salvation Army says they have approached the Twin Falls Urban Renewal Agency to possibly purchase their building to help them relocate to another area but since the URA has no other possible tenants for that building, that idea has not come to fruition.  Part of the plan to revitalize the downtown area is to have high-end restaurants and other businesses relocate there.  Officials say they have nothing against thrift stores but some of the prime locations in downtown could be better served by housing high-end businesses.  For now, it looks like the thrift stores will continue to operate where they area.
