TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — The Twin Falls Urban Renewal Agency board is considering whether to tear down a historic building to create a public open space.

The Times-News reports that a company planning $17 million in upgrades to downtown infrastructure recommends that the Rogerson building be torn down. Agency executive director Melinda Anderson tells the board in a memo that the empty space created by demolition could be used for concerts and farmers markets.

The building was constructed as a hotel in 1908 by Robert Rogerson, for whom the hamlet of Rogerson is named. The Urban Renewal Agency bought the building in August for $450,000.
