Shoshone, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Lincoln County deputies have arrested two people following reports of a hit and run. According to information filed Friday afternoon in district court, authorities were called to South Date Street by a nearby resident Thursday evening.

The witness said he saw the car strike an above ground fuel tank and a power pole. Later deputies were called to a dispute along highway 24 where a female carrying several bags was fleeing the scene. When authorities arrived they located a female and a damaged vehicle that matched the description of the one involved in the earlier hit and run. Deputies found several empty vodka bottles in the vehicle.

Inside they found two juveniles and 33 year old Dora Minear who was in the driver seat.  Deputies also say they found what they believe to be drug paraphernalia.  Minear told deputies that the other female near the scene was actually the driver,  31 year old Elaine Bernal-Ruiz.  Minear said she told Bernal-Ruiz to drive because it was thought she was “less drunk .”

Bernal-Ruiz was charged with Obstructing and Delay along with Child endangerment. Minear was charged with DUI, Injury to a child, Obstruct and Delay, Paraphernalia with intent to use and leaving the scene of an accident.
