LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — Two police officers in the north-central Idaho city of Lewiston are being honored with the Carnegie Medal for rescuing a woman who was trapped inside a burning apartment. The Lewiston Tribune reports that Dustan Hibbard of Lewiston and Jason Ewing of Clarkston will be given the award from the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission later this year. The men were among the first responders to an apartment fire on Nov. 28, 2010, and they entered the smoke-filled building to rescue Charity Vaughn, who was trapped inside. Ewing suffered smoke inhalation from the blaze and had to spend a day in the hospital for treatment. The men were awarded the Idaho Medal of Honor last year for the same incident.
