IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Prosecutors have upgraded the charge against a 23-year-old Rigby man suspected in a shooting death outside a Rigby girl's 15th birthday party. Emmanuel Jesus Granados was charged Monday with first-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old Fermin Lemus outside a quinceanera party. Granados was arrested in Utah.

Jefferson County Deputy Prosecutor Paul Ziel says that while Granados was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder, the first-degree murder charge is more appropriate. Police have said two men arrived at the girl's party early on July 14 and confronted Lemus. Lemus later went with the men to the parking lot, where they argued and the shooting took place. Granados also faces a deadly weapons enhancement.
