BOISE (KTVB) -- A recent trip to Idaho for a Utah man turned out to be very profitable.

Idaho Lottery officials say Bradley Smith of South Jordan was headed to Tremonton, Utah last week to attend a softball tournament for his daughter, but the game was canceled due to inclement weather.

Smith continue his drive up Interstate 15 to the Top Shop Chevron in Malad where he purchased a scratch ticket for the First Class Fortune game.

"It was the last one I played," said Smith. "I got it out of the vending machine. I couldn't really believe it. It was Friday afternoon and the lady working in the store told me I didn't have time to make it to Boise, so I drove home with the ticket worth $300,000 in my car."

Smith drove to the Idaho Lottery headquarters in Boise on Monday to claim his big prize.

"It's a life changer," admitted Smith who plans to pay down his mortgage with his winnings. "As I get older, having more time is important, so paying off the mortgage is a step in that direction."

This is the final top prize for the First Class Fortune game.

For selling the winning ticket, Top Stop Chevron in Malad received a $20,000 bonus from the Idaho Lottery.
