POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A 28-year-old snowmobiler from Utah suffered two broken legs and a broken arm in an avalanche just across the border in Idaho. Authorities say Matthew Morgan of Farmington, Utah, got caught in the avalanche in Logan Canyon in southeast Idaho at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday while riding with four others.

Lt. Doyle Peck of the Cache County Sheriff's Office in Utah says Morgan triggered the 500-foot-wide avalanche as he went over a crest. Peck says two feet of snow covered Morgan and he was unconscious when his companions dug him out, but soon regained consciousness.

Peck says bad weather and the danger of additional avalanches delayed getting Morgan to an ambulance until 9 p.m. He was taken to Logan Regional Hospital, then transferred to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, where he was listed in stable condition yesterday.
