A new 'Vacation' film has been in the works, with Ed Helms taking the lead as Rusty Griswold, but he won't be going it alone: veteran stars Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo are in talks to reprise their roles in the latest installment of the series.

Variety reports that Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo will most likely return to their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold in the upcoming 'Vacation' film, alongside previously announced stars Ed Helms ('The Office') and Christina Applegate. The film is a reboot of sorts that sees Clark and Ellen's son Rusty taking his family on a vacation of their very own, and along the way he'll stop by and visit old mom and dad because what's a 'Vacation' movie without Chase and D'Angelo?

The new film comes courtesy of 'Horrible Bosses' writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who will direct the film from their script. The pair recently penned 'The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.'

It wasn't immediately certain that Chase and D'Angelo would be able to return to the franchise, given their price tag and that the parts are more on the level of a cameo, but once the final script and budget were in place, producers went after them once again to ensure their participation. And it looks like their efforts paid off -- now we wait and see if those efforts lead to comedic gold.
