Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - With the warmer weather comes the need to be cautious about ticks and the diseases they can spread. Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever is a bacterial infection transmitted by a tick.

This can cause serious damage to internal organs. There is also a threat of getting Lyme disease, with warning signs that include a skin rash. Experts say that most of the signs of one disease can be found in its name.

Veterinarian with Idaho Fish and Game Mark Drew explained, "the clinical signs you see are reminiscent of the name. Typically in the Rocky Mountains, spots meaning little red spots that can progress to relatively large spots and a tick bite and then fever."

When in tick infested areas wear long sleeved shirts and pants. They are easier to spot on light clothing. If you find one, remove it immediately by using tweezers.
