Weekend Crashes Kill One, Injure Three

A Kimberly man is dead after a two vehicle accident Saturday afternoon at Red Cap Corner just north of Kimberly.  The ISP says 63 year old Michael Mitchell was traveling south on 3500 EAST ROAD when his vehicle collided with a Dodge pickup being driven by 28 year old Jacob Udy of Twin Falls.  Both were taken to St. Lukes Regional Medical Center where Mitchell died of his injuries.  Udy’s condition is unknown.  28 year old Rachel Udy and her two children were passengers in the Dodge pickup but did not require transport to the hospital.  The accident closed the road for about two hours Saturday afternoon.

State police say alcohol is believed to be a factor in a crash that injured three people near Jerome yesterday afternoon. That accident happened on Interstate 84 around  2:40 p.m. in Jerome County.  44 year old Pamela K. Hawley of Lawrence, Kansas, was traveling eastbound on I-84 around mile marker 168 in a 1992 Subaru Loyale when she lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway and traveled through a fence before crashing into the Southern Idaho RV and Marine dealership on Bob Barton Road. Hawley was taken by ground ambulance to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Regional Medical Center. Hawley’s passenger, 60 year old Nathaniel Adams of Ocala, Florida, was treated and released for his injuries at the scene. Hawley’s second passenger,  39 year old Heath Crooks  of Lawrence, Kansas, sustained a serious injury to his arm and was taken by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. None of the occupants in the vehicle were wearing a seatbelt.
