WENDELL, Id. (KMVT / KSVT) The bond and levy proposed by Wendell School District failed to gain voter approval in last night's election.

Both items on the ballot only received about 58 percent of favor, not enough to meet the super majority needed. The 1.6 million dollar bond would fund urgent repair needs, like the high school gym's roof, while the 250,000 dollar levy would create a maintenance fund for years to come. For Wendell, this is the fourth time such an initiative has failed to pass.

Superintendent Greg Lowe considers the next step, "In our next school board meeting I know there will be quite a discussion about plans for the future. Do we want to plan another initiative to bring to our patrons? If we do, how do we change it up? Are there going to be specific cuts that need to take place to meet some of the maintenance needs?" Superintendent Lowe has yet to hear feedback from the public on why the initiative did not pass. The next school board meeting for Wendell will be held on September 15th.
