On the morning of January 28, 1986, I was on the radio in southwestern Colorado. I will never forget the look on our radio station owner's face when he walked into my studio. He said he needed to make an announcement. This was a guy who never talked on the radio. But, on that day he did. And, the words he said shocked us all. "The Space Shuttle Challenger has exploded".

So many thoughts were racing through my mind. What happened to the astronauts? What about the teacher? Then, as it began to sink in, imagining all those schools where they were watching the launch live.

It's one of those moments that embeds itself into your life. You may not remember many things from 1986, but you almost certainly remember where you were and what you were doing when the space shuttle blew up.

Where were you? Do you have specific memories of that day? Please comment below and share.
