BURLEY, Idaho (KLIX) – The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for parts of eastern Magic Valley and eastern Idaho. The advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. Monday.

Winds are expected to come from the west to southwest from 25 to 35 mph and gusts near 45 mph. Winds will be strongest from about noon to 6 p.m.

“Winds this strong can make driving difficult,” reads information from the NWS, “especially for high-profile vehicles. … Drives should reduce speeds and keep both hands on the wheel.”

The areas impacted by winds include Burley, Aberdeen, American Falls, Downey, Fort Hall, Idaho Falls, Malad, Pocatello, Preston, Rexburg and Rockland areas.

A winter weather advisory also has been issued for the higher mountain elevations of eastern Idaho, which include the possibility of several inches of snowfall as well as blowing snow, sleet and freezing rain.

Drivers are cautioned to slow down and be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibility.
