The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Magic Valley until 5pm today (Dec. 7).

Snow and blowing snow today followed by very cold and dangerous wind chill.

Winter Weather Advisory: 2 to 4 inches of snow fell in most of Southeast Oregon and Southwest Idaho overnight and this morning. Local amounts up to 6 inches were reported in Idaho and up to 9 inches in Eastern Oregon. Snow started later than expected in South-Central Idaho and will continue later as well, into evening hours.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 pm.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow in the Idaho portion of the Treasure Valley and also in the Western Magic Valley remains in effect until 5 pm.

  • Snow amounts: 1 to 3 inches.
  • Winds: Northeast 10 to 20 mph shifting to northwest and increasing to 15 to 25 mph this afternoon with areas of blowing and drifting snow.
  • Impacts: Travel hazard. Area roads will become snow covered. Low visibility in snow and blowing snow.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that visibilities will be limited due to a combination of falling and blowing snow. Use caution when traveling especially in open areas.
