BLISS, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say two people are in critical condition after a car chase ended in south-central Idaho when the female driver stopped and shot her male passenger and in turn was shot by police.

The chase started about 2:30 a.m. yesterday on Interstate 84 when police pulled over a vehicle for no headlights.

Police say the vehicle took off but was stopped again in Bliss when other agencies joined the pursuit.

Police say the male passenger got out with his hands up as directed by police but was shot for unknown reasons by the female driver.

Police say the driver turned the gun toward a Gooding County deputy, who opened fire.

Authorities say the man and woman were air-lifted to Saint Alphonsus in Boise where they were listed in critical condition.
