TWIN FALLS, Id. (KMVT-TV/KSVT-TV) St. Luke's Magic Valley is breaking ground on a new outpatient surgery center.

With the Twin Falls population increasing, the health system realizes the need to adapt as well. The new center will be next to St. Luke's, but separate from the main building. Outpatient surgeries specifically refer to surgeries where patients are in and out the same day.

Dr. Russell Mayes, St. Luke’s Magic Valley says St. Luke's has seen a 33% increase in outpatient surgical volumes, which is why he says there is a real need for these type of services in our community.

He says that increase is a trend being seen nationwide as well. Crews broke ground this week on the new facility and it should be finished in about a year.
