Baby Fine After Attempted Car Theft in Wendell
WENDELL, Id. ( KMVT/KSVT ) A baby in Wendell is safe after a man attempted to steal the vehicle with the infant in the back seat. According to Gooding County Sheriff's Office officials, the car was left unlocked behind the El Tapatio restaurant in Wendell.
Around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to the scene where the suspect had crashed the vehicle, which was not even a block from the restaurant. Officials said they believe the suspect had no idea the baby was in the car, and as soon that as he realized it was, he abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Gooding County is asking for you help to identify the white male. He has tattoos on his neck and was wearing a black sweatshirt and blue jeans. Officials say there was minor damage to the vehicle, and the mother and baby are reunited. If you have information on this case you're asked to call dispatch at 324-1911.
