(KLIX)- Its about time to shut off the water. On Monday Oct 22nd the Twin Falls Canal company will close the main gates at Milner Dam. After that Murtaugh lake will be drained to winter season levels marking an end to the irrigation season. General Manager Brian Olmstead says there will be some water in the canal system for a few days as it drains. That includes water it provides to the city of Twin Falls. At the same time the city of Twin Falls is encouraging citizens to shut off and winterize their sprinkler systems. The city will start turning off its pressurized irrigation system. The pressurized system will continue to pump water after this weekend until the system is drained out. The city expects that to take two to three weeks. The city recommends people blow out their sprinkler lines with air to prevent damage during the cold season.
