COUER D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — A dockmaster with the Coeur d'Alene Resort marina is accused of stealing $467,800 from his employer.

The Spokesman-Review reports that the 37-year-old employee was fired from his job at the marina Oct. 15 after an internal company investigation. He was arrested Oct. 22 and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Nov. 13.

Police say an audit of the resort for owner Hagadone Corp. found the man was pocketing cash refunds for boat rentals. The audit found 1,259 fraudulent refunds since 2005, including 156 refunds totaling almost $53,000 this year.

Police say the dockmaster told managers he used the cash to pay bills, send his children to soccer and basketball camps and buy things for his family he couldn't have otherwise.
