Idaho Farmers Expected To Have “Banner” Year

After a slow start to the growing season, Idaho farmers are now looking at the possibility of one of the best harvests in about a decade. That means good things for the entire state's economy.

Jake Putnam with the Farm says with farmers expecting nice harvest paydays, every Idahoan can expect a boost, with more money coming into smaller communities and into state taxes.  It's important to remember the harvest season is still not complete. Growers should be pulling the last of their potatoes and sugar beets out of the ground in the next few weeks. Oregon is expecting a good harvest as well, but Putnam said that shouldn't hurt the high market prices Idaho growers are expecting. He said that's because Canada and the East have had a below-average growing season.
