Fighting wildfires is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, and firefighters who bravely take on these massive blazes are fully aware of the risks they're taking. When fighting a wildfire, anything can happen and as we're all aware of, nature can be unpredictable.

Idaho's Wildfire Season Has Been One For The Books

According to the Natural History Museum of Utah, the "average surface fire on the forest floor might have flames reaching 1 meter in height and can reach temperatures of 1,472 degrees Fahrenheit."

These intense conditions make it difficult to breathe, and even with protective gear, the risk of burns, heat exhaustion, and dehydration is extremely high. Also, our firefighters have to deal with smoke inhalation which can fill their lungs with toxic fumes which in turn, can cause long-term health problems.

As if those dangers weren't enough, there's the mental toll that the long hours and being away from worried loved ones. Many of these firefighters have people at home worrying about their safety and it's not like they can check in whenever they want to.

The Idaho Department of Lands released a detailed report about the wildfires in Idaho, showing us just how bad things have gotten.
