POLICE: Dangerous High-Speed Chase Ends In An Idaho Canal
What in the actual world is going on with the drivers in Idaho? And we're not saying it's everyone, but there have been some real gems making the headlines for some of the stupidest and most dangerous traffic violations we've seen.
This most recent story might be one of the craziest we've recently seen.
How Dangerous Is A High-Speed Chase
High-speed chase might sound or look cool for those of us who love action movies. But the reality is that it is one of the most dangerous scenarios for both officers and suspects.
For starters, a high-speed chase requires quick thinking on your feet. If you make the wrong split-second decision during a chase, it could end in serious injury, destruction of nearby property, and of course, death.
No one wants that, right?
Bonneville County Sheriff's Office Goes On A High-Speed Chase
According to a press release from Bonneville County Sheriff's Office, deputies were led on a high-speed chase around 1 AM on Tuesday when they were called to stop a pickup truck. Officials say that the vehicle was traveling at "a high rate of speed with only one working headlight as it ran through a red light at Hwy 26 and continued south on Ammon Rd."
The driver of the truck then reportedly sped through a construction zone, residential yards, and even in a neighborhood near a middle school... without headlights.
At one point, deputies clocked the truck exceeding speeds of 100 MPH and blitzing through intersections. Things got extremely dangerous when the pickup truck driver failed to make a corner on Roh Ln. and ended up in a canal.
You Won't Believe Who Was Behind The Wheel
This is where things get even nuttier.
"The driver, a 13-year-old female, was transported to 3B Detention Center and booked for two Felony counts of Aggravated Battery and Felony Eluding, along with Misdemeanor charges for Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Joyriding," officials reported.
"The passenger, a 15-year-old male, was released to parents, and potential charges relating to the theft of the pickup are pending at this time."

THIRTEEN?! Look, we get it - thirteen years old can be difficult for some kids because we honestly don't know what's going on, but a joy ride at 1 AM? ON A MONDAY NIGHT?!
Hopefully, police figure out how these kids wound up in this situation so it doesn't inspire other teens to do the same. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured.
