Single Vehicle Fatality Crash in Emmett, Idaho

On the night of April 10th, 2024, a severe vehicle accident occurred in Emmett, Idaho, involving a single car. The Idaho State Police reported that the crash took place at approximately 10:03 P.M. at the intersection of East 12th St and South Substation Rd in Gem County. This area was marked with road closures due to ongoing construction at the intersection of Substation Rd and Highway 16.

 Road Closure Signs Bypassed in Construction Zone

A 41-year-old man from Idaho Falls, driving a Subaru Legacy, ignored the road closure signs at the intersection of State Highway 16 and South Substation Rd. He continued north on Substation Rd and crashed into a large pile of dirt at the next intersection of Substation Rd and E 12th St. The impact caused the vehicle to tip over, coming to rest on its driver's side. Tragically, the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was seriously injured and required immediate air ambulance transport to a nearby hospital.

Tragic Outcome

After enduring injuries from the crash, the driver succumbed to his injuries and passed away on May 12th, 2024, in a local hospital. His identity has not been disclosed to the public pending notification of next of kin.
