
What New Home Owners in ID, WA, and UT Wish They Knew Before Buying
Buying a home is a major milestone in life. Many children grow up excited to one day own their own home, have their own rules, and do what they want. Many adults also look forward to owning their first home to stop having their money go towards rent, a place to call their own, and being able to decorate how they please. There are many nice things about owning a home but there are also some negatives as well. Many people who have bought a home wish they knew a few things in advance, and being blindsided can have an effect, especially in ID, WA, and UT.
What to Know Before Buying a Home in Idaho, Washington, and Utah
Buying a home for the first time is a big deal, and while it is exciting it can also be overwhelming. You may think you know what you are signing up for and have everything covered, but often you aren't nearly as ready as you think. A recent study from American Home-Shield revealed what many wish they had known before they had bought their first home. There were three things that many new homeowners claim they wish they had paid more attention to. Of those surveyed, 49 percent wish they'd have paid more attention to maintenance needs, 30 percent on home layout and size, and 22 percent on the neighborhood.
What Homeowners Have Learned in Idaho, Washington, and Utah
When it comes to home buying, what is the hardest part? According to the survey, 57 percent say that finding the right home is the hardest part, with 41 percent saying contracts and paperwork, 29 percent saying negotiations and inspections, and 28 percent securing financing. For those that hate the inspection process, surprisingly one in four skipped the process, with 23 percent later saying they regretted the decision and 41 percent saying it didn't save them money in the end. 26 percent said they found something their inspector missed, with 13 percent saying they disliked their inspector, and 27 percent wished their inspector had done a better job.

There is a lot to know and do when it comes to buying a home. When it comes to purchasing a new home 14 percent regret spending as much as they did, 24 percent did not budget closing costs, and 26 percent did not know their property taxes would increase.
