Summer break from public school has begun. Parents that don’t work on school schedules have to figure out childcare and entertainment for over 2 months. 2 weeks of happiness is all parents get to experience before they hear the dreaded phrase “there’s nothing to do”.

Teachers may have a few months off to recuperate from the joy of instructing the leaders of the future, but with about 100 days until children come back to the establishment of learning, there is a noticeable loss in knowledge.

What is the Library Doing to Make Summer More Fun?

The Twin Falls Public Library has a way to help combat these issues. The Summer Reading program will be in full swing this year to help students, parents, and teachers alike. But it’s not just for kids in school. The library has programs for kids who haven’t started school yet as well as adult programs offered to break the monotony of summer doldrums.

There’s a Community Play Day to kick off the summer reading program. There will be Giant Monopoly and Giant Jenga, Cornhole, Pickleball, free treats, and more. June 9th from 2 PM to 5 PM is going to be a Friday to have fun and get people excited for summer instead of dreading how to fill the time before school starts again.

While enjoying the awesome afternoon at Twin Falls City Park, attendees can learn more about the summer offerings from the library. Natrubrary for littles, LEGO City Build for elementary, STEM activities, cooking classes, crafts, and more for teens to adults alike. So much more than just reading and so much more than just for kids this summer at the Twin Falls Public Library.
