Growing up, many can not wait for the day that they are old enough to finally get their license. They think it will be the greatest day ever. They can drive to their friends' houses, they can go get food whenever they want, and they can finally have freedom. For parents, this is a day that they dread, as they now have to worry more every time their child leaves the house that something could go wrong. When it comes to the rest of the country, how do teen drivers in Idaho compare? Are they good drivers, or do they need more practice?

When it comes to driving, teens are some of the scariest drivers on the road. Depending on where you live, determines how old you have to be to finally get your license and hit the road on your own for the first time. A recent study by WalletHub ranked the states from best teen drivers in the country to the worst and did so using categories such as safety, economic environment, and driving laws. Using these criteria it was determined that New York has the best teen drivers, followed by Oregon, and New Jersey rounding out the top three. The state with the worst teen drivers is Montana, with Missouri having the second worst, and Wyoming rounding out the bottom three.

When it comes to teen drivers in Idaho, perhaps the age to start driving should be moved up. You may notice that Wyoming and Montana, regional states, are among the worst teen drivers in the country, and Idaho is no different, coming in as the fourth worst state. Idaho is 39 in safety, 48, or third worst, in economic environment, and 44 in driving laws. Teens have a ways to go in Idaho to figure out how to drive, but the good news is that they are not in the top five for fatalities and DUIs. Despite not being great drivers, they aren't drinking and driving as much as in other states and are making it home at night.
