What Would You Do? Someone You Know For Embarrassing Appointment

What would you do? What would you do if you showed up for a medical procedure that you know would expose you, only to find out that someone you know will be a part of the staff assisting the visit or procedure? Do you handle the awkward situation and not bring attention to it? Do you say something to the doctor and ask if they have someone else available? Do you cancel, despite already being there, and ask to reschedule? Do you use humor to cover it up and laugh it off, or bring it up to the person you know? The medical field jobs more people than any other business in the state of Idaho, making the odds high that you likely know one or a few people that work in the field. The more people you know in the medical field, the higher the chances are that you will have one of them work with you at some point. Being in a small town like Twin Falls, the odds increase that one of your friends, family members, or an acquaintance will end up assisting in a procedure or appointment at some time since there are limited options. If you go in to have what some would consider an embarrassing procedure or perhaps an appointment where you have to disrobe or reveal something personal or embarrassing, and one of these people is working with you, how should you handle it? There are a few options, but which one is the best? 

Knowing Your Nurse For Awkward Procedure in Twin Falls 

A friend of mine recently had to have a colonoscopy, and for anyone that has not had one, no they are not something you look forward to. You are exposed in a manner you would prefer people not see you, and it can at times be embarrassing. Knowing it is a medical procedure helps with this a little, but it can turn awkward when you know one of the staff, which is what happened to my friend. Nothing was said, and the moment had been avoided, but the next time they see each other, things could become awkward. My friend could have canceled the appointment, but after preparing for the procedure, that would seem ridiculous. They could have made light of the situation but chose to avoid mentioning it altogether or acknowledging the person they knew.
