What Would You Do? Someone at Your Door in the Night in Idaho
What would you do? What would you do if you looked at your doorbell camera or heard a noise outside in the middle of the night and saw someone in your driveway or at your door? Would you report it to the authorities? Would you post it on Facebook to share with the community? Would you open the door and confront them? Would you turn on a light or do something to scare them? Would you hide in the bathroom or closet and lock the doors? If someone was on your property in the middle of the night and you became aware of it, what would you do?
Strangers Approaching Homes in Idaho
Over the last few months, there have been videos posted online of strangers approaching homes in the middle of the night. Some have searched cars, some have looked at porches, some have tried to enter homes, and some have talked to the cameras and had odd behavior. Every situation is different, but being inside your home and seeing someone on your camera or hearing them outside in the middle of the night is a situation that nobody wants to be in. Living in Idaho, it is bold to attempt, as many people own guns and aren't afraid to use them, yet it doesn't stop strangers from attempting to enter someone's car or home when they shouldn't be.
How to Handle Strangers Trespassing in Idaho
When you see that someone is at your door after midnight, there are a few options. To some, opening the door with a gun in hand is the way to go, but that is the worst option to choose. You don't know if the person outside has a gun or how things will play out. You can call the authorities and let them know that someone is trespassing, but they may arrive too late and the individual may be gone before they arrive. You can watch them and see how things play out, but this is allowing them to do as they please and get away with trespassing with ill intentions. You can turn on lights and scare them away, but again they get away, to likely return or do the same to someone else.
While hopefully you never wake up to see someone on your doorbell camera or hear them outside in the middle of the night, there is always a chance it could happen, especially in Idaho. It continues to happen, and one night it might be your home that someone chooses. If this situation occurs, it is nice to have some sort of plan. If someone is at your house, in your driveway, or at the door in the middle of that night, what would you do?
