I love Halloween. Not just because my birthday is the day before and I always had the coolest costume parties growing up and endless candy.

As an adult, I still love candy and dressing up with my family to celebrate Halloween. We’ve noticed over the last few years that not everyone shares the love of the holiday. We usually have to drive to a different neighborhood to go trick or treat because no one in our area is home to give out candy…or they pretend they aren’t home.

The Best Places to Celebrate Halloween in CA are a Surprise

It seems like some locations are just known as the place to go for Halloween and other cities and neighborhoods don’t even try anymore. So, where in California are the best places to go show off your costume and get candy? Are you ready for a surprise?

A new release from Chicco says that 2 of the best places in the entire United States are in Central California. They say Fresno is the 7th best city while Stockton came in on the list at 14th.

The results are surprising for a few reasons. First, for the last 2 years, we’ve seen Irvine near the top of the list and this year they have disappeared…like a ghost. Another surprise is Stockton. No offense Stockton, but to make a list of the best places for kids to go out at night to strangers’ houses asking for treats while dressed in costumes doesn’t seem typical of a city that is also ranked as the 5th most dangerous in the state.

Maybe for one night, the residents of Stockton put aside their differences, and guns, and enjoy the holiday.

The methodology behind the results from Chicco used the percentage of the population that are kids, households with kids, a walk score, candy and Spirit Halloween stores in the area, size of yards, internet search interest in Halloween and Trick or Treating, and how much the area usually spends on candy.

Now, if you live in Yuba City it wouldn’t make sense to drive an hour and a half down to Stockton or 3 hours to Fresno. At that point, you’re better off buying your own bags of candy or finding out which part of your city is the hot spot for Halloween.
