These Parts of CA are Under Excessive Heat Warnings This Week
Some areas of California are seeing beautiful weather this week while others are feeling some of the hottest days of the year.
It’s important to know what areas are under heat warnings and to prepare accordingly if you’ll be in those areas.
Be Prepared: Excessive Heat Warning Issued For Parts of CA
You won’t have to travel far in California to jump nearly 30 degrees in temperature this week. The forecast in Sacramento shows 111 degrees on Thursday while just an hour and a half away in San Francisco the high will top out at 73 degrees.
LA and the Sacramento areas are under Excessive Heat Warnings, issued by the National Weather Service, with an additional Air Quality Alert in Los Angeles.
How Long Will The Excessive Heat Last in California
The Excessive Heat Warning in Sacramento has been issued from Wednesday morning until late Friday night. Temps are expected to hit 97 on Tuesday and then jump into the triple digits until the weekend. Wednesday gets up to 106, Thursday 111, and 107 on Friday. Saturday will push close to 100 and the extended forecast shows mid to upper 90s through the 19th - then the temps will be back in the 100s through at least the 23rd.
In LA the Excessive Heat Warning is in effect now until Thursday night. The Air Quality Alert is in effect until 7 PM on Wednesday. Temperatures will hit 85 on Tuesday, 90 on Wednesday, 88 on Thursday, and 85 on Friday. Temperatures remain in the 80s for the entire extended forecast and reach up into the high 80s again from the 20th to at least the 23rd.
The Air Quality Alert in LA can affect people with heart and lung disease, pregnant women, children, and older adults. Those at risk should limit time and exertion while outdoors, especially during the afternoon and early evening hours.
