Remains Found in Idaho 3 Years Ago Identified as Washington Woman
A three year old mystery in Idaho has been solved thanks to determined investigation and DNA testing technology.
In 2022 a female skull was found in Southern Idaho and it has now been verified as a woman missing from Washington State.
Remains of Female Found in Idaho 3 Years Ago Identified
The human skull was found by a fisherman on July 30th of 2022 on the Fort Hall river in Power County, southeast Idaho. No other remains were found of the deceased person and there were no signs of trauma to the skull.
The Ada County Coroner’s office took possession of the skull and sent it to the FBI for analysis. The FBI produced ‘3D facial approximation images of the skull’ to give law enforcement and media groups an idea of what the woman looked like in hopes of identifying her with help from the general population.
Last year, in April of 2024, the Idaho State Police offered assistance and in April of this year, 2025, the evidence was entered into a national system used to identify missing and unidentified persons (NamUS). Authorities also received help from an odontologist and came up with two possible matches.
Dental records and DNA proved that the unidentified woman was Lesiah Olivia Pickett from Spokane, Washington.
Pickett had been missing since late 2019, when she was last seen in Ogden, Utah then in Idaho Falls and Pocatello, Idaho.
Authorities in charge of the investigation are now looking for information from anyone who saw Pickett or has information about her final days in Idaho at the end of October, 2019.
Full details on the investigation can be found on the Idaho State Police website.
