3 Fatal Idaho Accidents Wednesday Include UT and ID Drivers and WA Passenger

On Wednesday, May 28th, Idaho State Police responded to 3 separate fatal and injury accidents along Idaho highways.

Victims include Idaho, Washington, Utah, Texas, New York, and Indiana residents. Three of them passed away, and 2 required transport to local hospitals.

Details from Idaho State Police on each of the fatal accidents are shared below.

Utah Driver Killed in Fiery Crash With Semi Truck on Idaho Highway

ISP are investigating a fatal accident on Interstate 84 near Bliss at mile marker 141 that happened at 12:43 on Wednesday afternoon. The accident blocked traffic for roughly 6 hours:

A 69-year-old male from Ogden, Utah, was traveling westbound I84 in a 2019 Nissan Frontier pulling a cargo trailer.

The Nissan crossed the median and struck a semi-truck pulling a 2020 utility trailer driven by a 43-year-old male from Ozone Park, New York with a 23-year-old male passenger from Indianapolis, Indiana

Both vehicles caught fire after the accident. The driver of the Nissan died at the scene of the crash. Occupants of the semi-truck were not transported and were wearing their seatbelts.

2 From WA Involved in Fatal ID Highway Accident: Female Passenger Killed

ISP responded to a 2 vehicle crash on Interstate 84, about a mile from the previous accident and about an hour later, near mile marker 142 at 2:11PM. The report doesn’t state whether the accidents were related, but this deadly accident is believed to have been caused by a slowing of traffic in the westbound lanes of I84.

The ISP report states:

A 2017 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 39-year-old-feamle from Issaquah, Washington, and a 2025 Freightliner Cascadia driven by a 61-year-old-male from Eastland, Texas, were traveling westbound on I84 when traffic came to a slow down.

The Jeep Cherokee attempted to go around the Freightliner Cascadia and hit the trailer it was pulling.

The driver of the Jeep Cherokee was taken by air ambulance to a local hospital and the passenger, a 35-year-old-female from Mill Creek, Washington succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

The truck driver was not transported. This accident blocked the left westbound lane of travel for around 3 hours.

Idaho Woman Killed in Accident Near Pocatello, Male Passenger in Hospital

The third fatal accident reported by Idaho State Police on Wednesday involved a single vehicle with 2 occupants on I-15 at mile marker 62 near Pocatello.

A 26-year-old female from Rexburg, Idaho was travelling northbound on I15 in a 2010 Toyota Corolla.

The female driver failed to negotiate a curve, went off the left shoulder and into the median.

The passenger, a 26-year-old male from Rexburg, was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.

The female succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Each accident is under investigation by Idaho State Police.
